My Educational Showcase
I chose Literacy and Science as my areas of concentration because when I think about the best part of my day I instantly think about these classes. I love all of the different ways I can teach reading. I can teach through individual reading, guided reading groups, interactive read alouds, narration stations, and creative writing sessions. The literacy courses I took throughout my Master's program focused on reading, writing, phonics, differentiated instruction, as well as assessment strategies. I spent only an hour once a week teaching my students science however; I made sure that these short sessions were filled with integrated science teaching, hands on activities and inquiry based science practices. I assessed my students' every step of the way and morphed my lessons to fit their needs. It has been very helpful and exciting to have chosen these concentration areas as I have been able to learn more effective literacy and science teaching skills.

Literacy Case Study
Throughout this class, I worked closely with one student. The button below shows the result of my work with that student. I taught and assessed my student's growth throughout our time together. I loved interacting with one student. By participating in this course I was able to learn and gain tools to help each one of my students with their literacy development.

Student Data
Throughout this course, I interacted with two students going into second grade. I gave these students a variety of assessments to establish their reading level. It was a great feeling to put all of my data into one report and analyze it to ensure that my students were given the help or challenges they needed.

Psychology of Classroom Discipline
This class was challenging and I learned a lot about how children's minds work. I poured my experience and understanding into my final paper. I beleive that my final paper shows how I use what I have learned in my classroom managment strategies.

Physchology of Learning
For this class, I was able to write a unit plan that helped my students learn an integral unit. The unit that I wrote is named "Heroes Against All Odds." I am very proud of this Understanding by Design plan. It helped me to teach my students to think deeply and understand what they were being taught. The button below is a link to my unit plan.

Science and Technology Classes
Teaching for Understanding
Througout this course, I learned about different types of assessments to help me teach my students for their understanding. I am proud of my final slideshow project. This slideshow displays the assessments and understandings my students engaged in during the unit. I took a new view of assessing for understanding which aided me in my teaching.

Inquiry Based Science
For this class, I created a unit that helped my students think deeply about magnetism through inquiry based science practices. I learned how to apply the practice of inquiry based teaching to not just science, but all of the subjects I teach. Below is the unit that I created.

Technology and Education
At the end of this course, I was given the opportunity to reflect on how my education has been shaped by technology and how I have used that knowlege to help me teach in my own classroom. I learned so much and I was able to incorporate what I learned into my classroom. The link below will lead to a paper that shows my understanding of teaching with technology.

Using Technology in Education
Throughout this class, I was tested in many forms of technology. The challenge was to use different types of technology in my classroom. I learned how to use Vimeo, iMovie and Voice Thread. Below is a movie I made to help me teach my students about cathedrals.
